Something from the book: (Nothing really stood out so it is going to be the blur this time)
"Every love story has something extraordinary in it."Well, it was a myth for Himanshu till he met Ishika online. Ishika is a nurse from Mumbai. But love comes with a "conditions apply" tag. Six years age difference, career & different cultures.
Anusha, is a girl who wears her heart on her cheeks rather on her sleeves. She was the little "extra" in Hims extraordinary love story. From her vodka to his favourite website they always share a little "extra"and become best friends.
Himanshu's career is on stake as he plans to destroy Ishika's marriage. Would he be able to save his love? Would he be able to get out of the best friend-zone?
A tale of love, emotions, betrayal and much more. It's not a cliched love story but a story they had both dreamt of.
For
every new comer in the storytelling kingdom these days, Romance serves as the scrutiny
free, immigration free gate and same is the case with Himanshu Chauhan, whose
debut novel Me, You & Of Course Love was sent to me by BlackBuck
publications for review. The story is of Hims aka Himanshu who falls in love
with Ishika, a nurse from Mumbai and their roller coaster ‘something extra’
love story. The issue with Ishika and Himanshu was – A. Age difference of 6
years (Hims has a thing for a smart older lady); B. Career and Cultural
difference C. Anusha. Anusha is Himansh’s best friend but not his love – so you
can imagine! The story goes from simple love to full swing drama zone with
Himanshu’s plans to wreck Ishika’s marriage. And then there is the side kick
best friend zoned story line.
Pros
–
1.
Narration – The flow helps a reader connect well with the story.
2.
Last Chapter – Glad it did not end with an over the top incident. The last
chapter sums p the whole books feel pretty well.
3.
Relatable characters – The characters of the story are people we would easily
find around us, hence you tend to get in the tone of the story.
Cons
–
1.
Nothing New – The story is not a fresh one, nor is it the best version of this
typical storyline.
2. Editing - There are so many places in the book where you feel 'this bit was not needed'. Grammar needs polishing, content needs brushing up and story needs to be crisp.
The
story seems to go with a Chetan Bhagat flow with pages out of My Best Friend’s
Wedding, Mere Yaar Ki Shaddi hai and many more. But the end of this total Bollywood
material is on a very subtle human note. The story is nothing new and has been
told and retold in a million ways before, but the book still somehow is
refreshing and light for a one time read on a lazy day. I would rate this perfect
chick-lit a 3 on 5.
P.S.- This book was given to me by BlackBuck Publications for review and the review is completely my own view about the book.
Here
is one of the biggest advantages of travelling for almost 4 hours a day – You can
finish a book! Yes recently I have finished 2 such books and this is the first
of the two. ‘Of Course, We are Best Friends!’ by Sonia Bansal is a short and
sweet tale of friendship and love. The story revolves around the protagonists
Aditi and Aditya who are classmates in school. Even at the young age, and with
absolutely no idea about the depth of the emotion named love, Aditya falls for
Aditi. Aditi being, the free spirited girl, though naïve in her thoughts is
more rational than Aditya and feels young love is nothing more than infatuation.
Soon they become best buddies and are the target of every Tom Dick and Harry in
their friend circle. Teasing, helping, making random jokes slowly pulls them
towards each other and very soon they start dating each other.
Their
love blossoms in school against all rationalities but fails with the first real
challenge they have to face - long distance relationship in college. They meet
after some years but the awkwardness of past haunts them. Aditya being more
involved than Aditi, fights with every inch of his will to let go of the
weirdness and in the end the friends do make a decision, saving their friendship
from the dark clouds of immature love.
Pros:
1.Point of views – The author gives you the point
of view of both the protagonist throughout the story. The way the story is
written is refreshing and keeps you going.
2.Narration – Simple and effective, just like
reading your regular day to day diary. Something light like every tired book
person would want after a hectic day.
Cons:
1.Nothing new – We hear these things, we know these
things, and Durjoy Dutta and Chetan Bhagat have made sure we read these things
too. There is nothing to take away from the story, nor does it leave you with a
long lasting feel good effect.
2.Editting – It is very important for a book to be
free of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes cause if the reader is like
me, it breaks the flow and gets irritating.
Over
all it is a onetime read for sure, but that is all it is. It is a book you
would pick to refresh yourself. When I got this book to review from the
publishers, I thought it would be the same as any random teenage love story
book these days and wasn’t wrong; but having said that it was a refreshing read
thanks to the narration and the point of view writing style. To let go of the
heavy life and hold a mirror at simplicities, that we seem to have forgotten
these days, teenagers included. I would give the book a 3 on 5 rating and would
really want the author to try some new and different genre because she sure
shows the flair of storytelling in this book. The book manages to break the
illusion that a girl and a boy can always be good friends but in a very
conventional way. I would have enjoyed it more, had the story explored
unconventional track to explore the emotions. For people who love chick flicks
and teenage romance, this book is surely something you will enjoy.
P.S.- This book was given to me by BlackBuck Publications for review and the review is completely my own view about the book.
Something from the book: "I would wash your path with my tears of plea My eyes are fixed on the road that brings you to me Beholding the ocean of love in your eyes"
Shrouded by myths
and reality, A Passionaate Gospel of True Love by Poonaam Uppal, is the journey
of an ambitious Indian girl Moh Lal. The story moves through the corridors of
glamour and desire as Moh has her mind set on becoming an internationally acclaimed
Fashion Designer. And destiny lets her wallow in her yearnings too, until one
day when not only it deceives her desire but changes her course all together.
Moh gets a premonition, a sign from Goddess Durga that she would meet her
ancient lover in 1997 and that sets her on the path of finding her true love.
The story takes you
National to International and back and makes you her unseen companion through
her journey which is donned by Deja vu, divine interferences, premonitions, idiosyncratic
occurrences and past birth revelations. The journey makes her a believer of
love, beyond the sexual and artificial meaning people have accepted for the
word these days. And also leads her to misty terrains of Himalayas for a
cryptic secret waiting to be unveiled.
Pros :
1.Narration – The flow is such that it makes you feel you are reading
a diary and keeps you intrigued about the next incident always.
2.Descriptions – If one thing
every reader would cherish in this book (whether the book is of his/her type or
not), it is descriptions. They were intricate, vivid and literally pen painted
every page of the book in front of you.
3.The Himalayan and Khajuraho
sections – Can’t reveal much here, but I really liked these bits and yes the
book has pictures too!
Cons :
1.Autobiography – Fact that it was an autobiography kept me
distracted for a very long time. And I have to be frank and accept; only when I
started reading it as a random novel did I enjoy tits and bits of it.
2.Love Messiah – Moh to
Messaih, the story I still can’t digest. Kama Sutra and Love the holiest of the
religions! I don’t really believe any god would preach religion. They or their messiah
preached principles and way of life and people segregated them in religions. If
Moh really was dragooned by her destiny set by Ma Durga , Love can’t be the
religion.
3.Over exaggerated events. –
Sorry, again it is a read to know more con, but I found that ruining the flow. 4. Grammar and Punctuation - The book is some serious need of revision where grammar and punctuation are considered. Repetitions and random sentences going on and on. For a 1084 page book, these factors do matter. It gets annoying!
The book is
apparently the autobiography of the author, but I went on reading is as some
fantasy novel and it had many sections where I felt the situations and
happenings were gonzo incidents. And my review too is totally for the book as a
novel and not an autobiography. Nevertheless
the flow of the book is such that it feels like you are reading someone’s diary
and surely by the end of it, it leaves you with a new thought about love; a
more mature and to be pondered upon thought. I would give this book a 3 star
on 5 because I thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions else would have been a 2.5 for the content. Even though the story felt
dragged it did make a sense and most of the points were tied up. It was a onetime
read for me, given the fact that I don’t usually enjoy books related to romance
and love. But for all the lovers out there, who knows this might be your kind
of book.
P.S. This book was given to me for review by @share_books . The review is completely my own view and is unbiased. I do not intend to hurt anyone's feelings with my views but review is purely for the benefit of my readers.
Panting and practicing Ajay stared
at the clock. It was 11:00am and he was late. Sameera laughed at her brother’s
misery as Ajay turned the whole room upside down for the red tie Mishka had
given him for his graduation. “You sure you want to do this today Ajay”, a
worried Sameera asked. “I have waited years, I love her, I want her, and now I
have a job too. She can study after we marry or maybe we can wait for her to
finish her studies but I need to know she will be mine for the rest of my life”
Ajay remembered the blank pain in Mishka’s eyes - the day her parents died. He
had decided he would make his life’s mission to make her happy always and now
he has reached a level where he could fulfill that mission, why stop now?
Finally Sameera had some pity on her brother and tied the tie she had been
hiding all the while and kissed her brother good luck.
On the way to Mishka’s place he
kept thinking about how after her parents’ death she lived with her aunt and
uncle and they had so many restrictions levied on them. They had no more late
evening cycling trips, the band was shut down and they could meet every day but
just in school and after his 12th only during vacations thirty
minutes per day. That is when they came up with the old school letters game.
Every day when they met both of them had a letter filled with not important but
important stuffs that they couldn’t talk about in the half an hour mirth and
blissful meets. Soon it became a habit and they wrote everything important in
letters over the years. Distance was set
to test their love but his determination to get a job as soon as possible and
finish the journey whose destination was this very day kept him going. He had
come so far and nothing could have stopped him nothing but a word. He reached her place and pressed the doorbell
for the 1st time in his life. Uncle came up to the door and greeted
him with a smile. One step inside; his eye caught the visage of his girl
sitting on the dining table, smiling nervously and clenching a piece of paper
tightly in her right hand. The breakfast on her table was untouched and he knew
what that paper was. Without wasting any more time he started speaking as soon
as chachi entered the drama room. “Sir ummm Uncle I know, I think you know this
day was coming. I know it’s early, I mean very soon. But I got a job and I
don’t want to… I mean it is ok if we… I want to marry Mishka. I know she has
just started her graduation and is quite young but…” rest of it was all lost.
Mishka kept staring at Ajay while he babbled in front of her Uncle, tears
rolled down her cheeks, she didn’t even notice the muffled laugh Neha was
trying so hard to control, her heart was thumping and all that kept playing in
her mind were the words of that letter.
“Mishka
I dreamt of this day ages ago, when
I would ask you to be mine but was scared of a “No” so the day took pretty long
to come on the calendar. But now, I make a promise to keep. I’ll ride like a
knight, without the armour or steed (unfortunately), Race to you place when I
get a job and ask your Uncle for your hand with brimming hope. If you have no
qualms getting married to me Say yes now Mishka and the year will pass in a
jiffy. I respect your dreams and your aims in life, but it would be my pleasure
if I could be a part of it with all rights. I love you, you know that. You love
me I think. You are my saviour, my miracle, the person who made me realize my
dreams and taught me to follow my heart with my responsibilities. I want you to
be a part of my life forever. Please say yes.
Love you always
Ajay.”
The moment she read it she had tears
in her eyes making them sparkle and with some mustered up courage she made her
cracking voice say “Ajay, Yes!”
Her memory train came to a sudden
halt as everyone in that room stared at a cheery elderly face bringing the
moment to stand still with a delighted “Yes”. Uncle had said yes even before
Ajay could finish his super unsuccessful attempt at a speech.
Neha later informed her dear sister
that she had been feeding seeds of their love coaster to their uncle and aunt
regularly and they knew Ajay was coming that day. Mishka couldn’t thank her
sister and Uncle enough but knew that their love had made that “Yes” the purest
word of her existence now. Ajay and Mishka smiled at each other dreaming of the
world that reverberating “Yes” was the door to.
Mishka kept pacing up and down her
room holding a letter in each hand while the bed sheet was veiled by 50 more
letters Ajay had written to her over the years. “Mishka, clean up and stop
freaking out, he must have gotten the job by now and he will come and talk to
Aunt tomorrow itself”, chided Neha, her elder sister. Frustrated she threw the
letter about the interview in her home made pond of letters but not the
crumpled, already on the verge of tearing, eight months old one. She went over
to her desk and pulled out the lavender diary Ajay had given to her 2 days
after her parent’s death. Just as she touched it the past 5 years of her life
flashed right in front of her eyes.
She was singing on the compound wall of Mantra
Uncle’s mango orchard while Ravi and Ajay played their guitar. Neha and Sameera
stared in awe as Mishka sang the first song she ever had ever written and Ajay
already seemed to know the tune to the song written for him. Mishka and Sameera
were the two young ducks of the gang but the naughtiest too. Mishka always had
a crush on Sameera’s tall dark and handsome brother, the best flirt in the
world, but today she had decided to make him acknowledge that she was going to
be his from now on. All of them indulged in their new new found hobby of shayaris
and Mishka used this opportunity for her “Love Confession”.
‘Rangeen hasraton ki khawhish
Judi hai tujhse yaara
Bas yunhi aakhon aakhon mein guftagu
ho
Ae khushnuma mera dildaara
Tasavur mein na ho aise khwabon ka
manzaar
Jaisa hai yeh aalam aaj humare
darmiyaan
Chup si baatein bas ho rahi hai
Kuch yaahan kuch wahaan’
She saw a naughty smile and a
blissful blush on Ajay’s face and thought “God don’t make him think of me as a
hopeless romantic or a kid with a huge crush and no idea about what love means.”
They always spent hours near this orchard, at the dusk, tired from their
cycling venture which made them feel like they’ve seen the world, feeding the
ducks in the ever diminishing local pond. But that day they met early and
decided to explore the streets till the sunlight had no speck of its shine on
the azure heavens. Post the guitar session they went into the orchard to collect
some green mangoes laden on the boughs of the burdened trees. While others were busy selecting stones, she
kept staring at a busy Ajay who was scribbling something on a paper. When he
finally decided to join the notorious party he handed her some stones he had
collected and along with them was the scribbled note.
“khwahish meri ho khwahish teri
Bas kabse thi yeh khwahish meri
Aaj hai who puri hui
Hai, he kya yeh khush naseebi
meri.”
And maybe you thought so but I
don’t think you are a hopeless romantic. You will always be the talented little
tom boy for me.”
Nothing could wipe the smile off
her face after that, nothing; but something that happened about an hour later
changed everything. Neha and she came tripping and humming to their aunt’s
house where they were going to spend the night as their parents were off to a
wedding. “Whenever you girls come I have to cook so many things, how does your
mother tolerate your tantrums. And you’ve come so late now I’ll have to heat up
everything again”, complained Chachi (aunt) while Neha kept increasing the
sound of the TV and Mishka pestered her dearest aunt “Only you jhelofy our
tantrums chachi.” Just then the phone rang and Chachi hurried, still mumbling
at the girls. The girls were giggling loudly but the whole world came to a
stand still for them when it was pierced by their aunt’s uncontrollable cry.
Twenty minutes later their uncle came
home and rushed the girls to a Krupanandan Hospital and their aunt had still
not said anything. Uncle called over Neha first and a weepy Neha told an
inconsolable Mishka their dad had died in a car accident and mom was in coma.
Four hours later their mom gave up too and Mishka’s world was reduced to
nothingness. Just then Ajay and his parents reached the hospital and without a
word Ajay went over to Mishka and held her for dear life like he would never
let go of her. Everything had changed for her but somehow Ajay’s warm embrace
made her feel safe and believe this is as bad as things can get but she will
survive this trauma. Hours passed worried wailing people passed up and down but
all she could hear was her own sobs and feel numbness around her. God knows
when she slept but she woke up in her aunt’s house to find a calm Ajay sitting
across her bed. None of them said a word but that very moment she knew she lost
her parents but she will never lose him. Time kind of froze in that very moment
until it was externally reset by someone calling “Mishka, come down for
dinner.”
Breathing in a tensed whiff of the panic stricken air, Ajay sat there,
impatiently on the not so comfortable waiting area chair, waiting for his turn. There
was a high decibel cacophony of worried people marching like hoofed horses
around, all scared and nervous just like him, but not one of them had the storm
of thoughts like he did. It was his first job interview and he needed the job
desperately but just moments before the ‘moment of truth’ all he could think
about was a day eight months back.
Inky sky donned by clouds ready to pour anytime and him, standing under
the banyan tree that had been his companion for years now, not sure of whether
he was trying to save himself from inevitable rain or the probable mighty sun
that might defeat the clouds and take back and rule the afternoon sky again.
But none of that mattered because he talked to the tree endlessly to kill time
so that he could have courage to do what he wanted to do at the right moment.
He had been waiting for this moment for months now. He thought of doing it
during the last vacation but guess he needed six more months of prepping time.
And just when he was babbling away to glory he saw her, his Mishka. Looking at
her small childish face, ever smiling eyes always made his heart flutter and
made his day. He still could think of a thousand reason of why he loved her
every time he saw her but could never remember what made him fall head over
heels for her in the first place but over the years their love grew and just
grew. Mishka asked her elder sister to go ahead and she would join her later. He
knew his most crucial thirty minutes of the day have started and he had to make
the best of it.
Mishka talked about her 12th board chemistry paper that she had
just appeared for and he kept smiling all the time. She was intelligent but
never a great scorer. She loved making fun of the elite students of her class
and today was no different but for Ajay it was. She went on and on, cribbing
about a question she had answered correctly in the first place but changed it
when it could have made a difference and he thought about what answer she would
have for his question. “Ajay you are going back tonight, right?” He remembered
her morphed with laughter, cracking voice and these words crystal clear. There were
a hundred questions underlying that one and he could hear them all screaming
silently in her glittery gaze. ‘Yes’, he had said and his voice was drowned in
the quiet shatter of her heart that she meticulously covered with a smile and a
teasing “great”. This was it, he had to do it, and he was running out of time.
As a cool rainy zephyr brushed her hair he held out the piece of paper he was
holding dearly to his heart for hours. Mishka joked, “Dude, I just gave and
exam and you want me to study again”, but his heart was beating at 150 beats
per minute threatening to jump out at any moment. “Just read it, it’s just like
all the letters I write to you but for this one I wanted to see your reaction
too.” Couple of minutes passed, he could hear the symphony of leaves rustling,
birds chirping autos and cycles passing by even the Banyan tree laughing but he
yearned just for her voice. Her face tensed, and sweat dripping down his
forehead. “Ajay” “Mr. Ajay Sharma” you have been called inside.
While he waits for the
girl to wake up from her dream
A place where love once
danced to nature’s cacophony
And peace was dappled by
a canopy so woody
Maybe, will get back
what once was his
And he would thank these
mountainous trees
“Why are we here and who
are you?”
Breaks him from his
trance too good to be true
The woman was up and
standing appalled
And he knows his attempt
was yet another fall.
“Calm down my love, for
you are my life!”
“You lie”, she shouts and
picks up a fruit knife.
With a “Trust me my dear”
he moves towards the damsel
And in fright and
defense she uses the blade
Amidst the raining “Sorry”s
and regretful “Oh No”s
The blade clinks when it
hits the marble floor.
And a body with a loving
heart lies in a crimson pool
Still pleading to the
trembling girl to keep her cool.
She goes up to the phone
desk just to witness the fact
A framed picture of her marriage
shows her with the same man
In tears she shouts “I
love you, just stay with me Okay!”
And dials the number that
might end up saving her day.
But while the phone rings;
memories are washed clean
“How may I help you?”
simply makes her think.
There is a man, I know
not of, is dead on my floor
She keeps the phone, and
with calm demeanor walks out of the door.
-Vaisakhi Mishra
PS - I read a story, quite sometime back and the basic idea of this poem is a direct pick of the story. I would have given it credits but i don't even remember where i read it. So if any of you come across a similar story let me know. The poem is my own though...:)
I sit beside your grave
waiting to lay here for eternity.
P.S. In the bivouac of today's busy life we often forget to acknowledge how much someone means to us. Take a day out of your life, take a moment out of your day just to thank the people you love the most in the world. Don't wait for some right time to nudge you to speak of your love, do it then and there every time is the right time every moment is the moment to be remembered forever. And people Happy Valentine's Day!
People say love makes
everything seem wonderful; if it had been a thought twelve hours earlier I
would just have laughed it off. But now so much has changed. Sitting on my
front porch now, at dawn, listening to chirping of the early birds waiting for
the sun to spread its sparkling wings on the world, nothing was unusual but it
was all surreal for me today. I couldn’t stop beaming while reminiscing about the
events of the last day, all the while twirling a precious ring in my fingers. In
the freckles of the light that shimmered on the shiny surface on the metal I
saw the glimpses of my platinum day of love.
“Nidhi let us go for
the reunion, someone definitely wants to meet you today, can’t you see?” Vrinda
chided me. Someone had just sent me flowers with a weird note on it and asked
me to come to the Reunion of our school. I had a fairly clear idea who this
someone might be because the note had a poem with no head or tail; a poem just
like the ones that made every day beautiful for me eight years back; a poem
just like the ones Rishi wrote for me.
Crimson petals with
freshness undefined
But nothing beats your
shy yet radiant smile
A heart beats fast in
some corner of the town
Waiting to see you
again now, after eight summers and falls.
The poem still made me
smile but now, after eight years of drifting apart form each other, it made tears
brim in my eyes and I was scared Vrinda would notice it soon. So I simply
agreed and rushed into my room with an uninterested “whatever.” I read the
lines on the note again and again and found it really amussing how his sense of
poetry and rhyming was still as bad as ever. Back then his poems were always
compared to Roshesh Sarabhai’s poems by all our friends. Roshesh was a
character of a very famous comedy show that aired on TV back then and so Rishi took pride
in the sarcasm also, but now even after so many years guess he is still in awe
of that show.
Rishi had a peculiar
habit of dropping clues to me in his poems and I was sure there was nothing
different in this one. I read the lines a couple times more just to realize the
‘crimson petals’ was actually a reference to the dress he wants me to wear. But
why should I? We had not talked in two years and had not seen each other since
four years after we decided to break up. Our break up was not messy but instead
was sad for both of us. He was going to UK for MBA and both of us being scared
of long distance relationship just decided to call it quits. But I never really
got over him and today gave me some hope that he too was sailing on the same
boat. And just for the hope I decided to wear a red saree with black lace
border, little did I know that would be the topic Vrinda would latch on to for
the next two hours.
In the party I kept
looking all around for Rishi with a perennial background story of the flowers
and the poem that Vrinda recited to every friend we met. People began admiring
the tinsel and blue decoration, the amazing food and discussed their life after
school while my eyes were lost in the search of Rishi, who was still nowhere to
be seen. I lost track of how many times I had to ask “What” to people to repeat
what they were saying as I kept phasing out and loosing hope slowly. Maybe
someone had just played a prank on me and I had fallen for it; fallen bad. And
so when Vrinda and my other friends asked me to pay a visit to our 12th
std. classroom I decided to tag along. Our class had changed so much. The
boring black board was replaced with a less boring green one, the windows had
cream curtains the walls were hidden behind bulletin boards screaming the
importance of 12th grade. Benches had changed too, but all had
scribbles and sketches on them. I totally forgot about the people who were with
me and went for the last bench of the row near the windows. That is where Rishi
and I sat in our final year and Rishi always scribbled some weird poem on the
bench. Our bench must have looked like Wordsworth’s rough note book back then
for sure. But now the bench had a lot of sketches and just one poem!
Ravishing red, and the
peachy blush
My wait could not be
satiated with anything more
The twinkle in your
eyes searching what is already yours
But let the library
first earn, its freedom from boredom.
He is waiting for me
in the library! I hear Vrinda scream my name as I run towards the library
without informing them anything. But he was there, and I had so much to tell
him ever more so much to be angry about and scream at him for. But right now I
just wanted to see him once. I went to the library but there was no one there.
I stood there in the dull yellow lighting, searching every corner of the room
I could see, but he was nowhere. But then my eyes fell on the thoughts board
and there were four more lines on it.
The freaky jitters of
the first kiss
And the hunt for a
place for solitary bliss
For you and I search
every turn and dome
Till we were found
that quiet and windy home.
I knew the place! How
could I ever forget that place where we shared our first kiss? The small green
room on the terrace that we usually used for annual day practices. I reached
there to find the whole room decorated with lanterns and a small table with a
white ring box on it. I was sure by now it was Rishi but I still couldn’t see
him anywhere. I went ahead and opened the box only to find a folded paper in
it. I unfolded the paper in a hurry and read what he had penned.
What you see is far
from an illusion
But your wait for some
hours is like my waits compensation
A glittery future
awaits you right now
If your anger is
quenched, meet me down
After all this he
wanted to meet me in the party hall, how irritating! Was my anger gone, I
really didn’t know but what I knew for sure was I could wait no longer to meet
him now. I rushed downstairs and saw the whole crowd facing the entrance. “Just
the way you are” was being played in the background and there near the DJ
station he was standing, smiling nervously as if afraid of me but still his
eyes clearly conveyed that he had been waiting for me. I literally ran towards
him as if Dil wale dulaniyan lejaenge’s spirit had entered me, and didn’t really
know why. But all I could see was him and him waiting for me. But I stopped
right in front of him and he chuckled.
“And I knew this would
happen”, he said. He didn’t even get me a chance to respond but kneeled and
pulled out a ring.
“Naïve in your love I
surrender myself
And ask you to accept
it if you agree yourself
The ring aint a bribe
for you to yes
But eight years of
unconditional love is the reason, I guess
I tried over and over
to forget and move on
But my heart stayed
with you even when I was gone
And something kept
saying you waited for me too
So here is my weird
poem with which I woo you
Tears welled up in my
eyes and I stared at him with a blank face. I was rendered speechless by his
words, not to mention his best poem so far. But what mattered was he had waited
for me and loved me all this while. He was still mine and I was his when we
were not together. But my thoughts were interrupted by his sudden words.
“Now would be the time
to say yes or no. Plus if you want to say no just look at the ring, it is
platinum”, Rishi said.
I couldn’t help but
smile, “So you are bribing me with the precious white metal chunk.”
“The precious white
metal cannot be a chunk or anything. It is a ring of platinum cause it is very
precious and nothing better could suit you as you are the most precious person
to me right now. It glitters just like your eyes and would not wither away so
will remind you of this day forever, well only if you say yes. Also…”
As amused as I was at
the fact that it was still so easy to distract him from a topic I decide to shut
him with a kiss, because I had waited too long for this moment. I didn’t care a
bit about the people who were staring at us. I just wanted to hold on to this moment
forever.
“So it is Yes?” He
asked nervously.
“If you put the ring
on my finger right away, it is a YES!” I giggled.
And without wasting a
second he slipped the ring on my finger and my reunion just turned out to be my
engagement day.
“What if I was still
angry and had said no?” I asked him.
“Even if you were
angry you would not say no I knew, cause somewhere I was sure you still loved
me and wouldn’t want me to be embarrassed infront of so many people” he joked
with a straight face and I could see the sincerity in his eyes.
“A bit over the top but,
right?” I asked Rishi.
“I told him about your
liking for movies like 27 dresses and When in Rome!” Vrinda screamed from
behind. And Rishi was sporting his cute dreamy “Guilty as charged" smile. I
realized Vrinda was a part of this whole plan and she was
the one who had told Rishi about me still waiting for him. Love! It is an
amazing thing for sure, just a bit impish sometimes. The ring would always
remind me of this day, of my Platinum day of Love.
