Memory

The fragrant spring knocks on his door,
When he opens it to a new day, with hope.
The Daisies and Sunflowers sing the morning hymn
While he waits for the girl to wake up from her dream

A place where love once danced to nature’s cacophony
And peace was dappled by a canopy so woody
Maybe, will get back what once was his
And he would thank these mountainous trees

“Why are we here and who are you?”
Breaks him from his trance too good to be true
The woman was up and standing appalled
And he knows his attempt was yet another fall.

“Calm down my love, for you are my life!”
“You lie”, she shouts and picks up a fruit knife.
With a “Trust me my dear” he moves towards the damsel
And in fright and defense she uses the blade

Amidst the raining “Sorry”s and regretful “Oh No”s
The blade clinks when it hits the marble floor.
And a body with a loving heart lies in a crimson pool
Still pleading to the trembling girl to keep her cool.

She goes up to the phone desk just to witness the fact
A framed picture of her marriage shows her with the same man
In tears she shouts “I love you, just stay with me Okay!”
And dials the number that might end up saving her day.

But while the phone rings; memories are washed clean
“How may I help you?” simply makes her think.
There is a man, I know not of, is dead on my floor

She keeps the phone, and with calm demeanor walks out of the door.

PS - I read a story, quite sometime back and the basic idea of this poem is a direct pick of the story. I would have given it credits but i don't even remember where i read it. So if any of you come across a similar story let me know. The poem is my own though...:)

Wave Of Despair

The chords of grief reverberating deep,
The rendition of sorrow, to which the Fates sway.
My frozen stone heart is now melancholy’s keep
As a wave of blue washed my life away.

The castle of memories is now ruins of past;
Home, a family, kins - now none remain.
A never fading gloom is now my sinking ship’s mast.
Austerity of nature left me under the unknown’s reign.

Pulverized future, all that breathes around is dark,
But it’s not just me; many have fallen in this trap.
Everywhere my eyes see the terror of death – stark!
Mocked are we now, by sympathy’s knife - edgy and sharp.

Like a phoenix from ash, I may rise again or may never;
But now on to the end, despair will be my pal forever.

P.S. - The thought behind this poem was of 'a person who has lost everything in a tsunami.'

Dying Dream

The mellow eyes quietly sing
To a slowly dying ethereal dream,
To stay some more and breathe to her
And not let her fall back to a lonely wall.

A caged bright bird flaps to dance,
To splash the beady drops of love
That form and slip off the glass,
Of her darkened lonely walls.

A broken heart prays for love to come,
And be the key to her self closed room,
And dance for a while in a starry night,
And break the fence of the lonely walls.

The hopeful face calmly sleeps,
Hoping her dream would come real once
And lift her again in its arms of love
And make her leave the lonely walls.

Song of Melancholy...

Pale fingers playing on the strings
Of a cold and timeworn violin.
Misty night and dead old trees,
Sway to her song of melancholy.

Screaming and wailing her silent thoughts,
Frozen tears on the violin chords-
Emote-soulful music she plays,
All night long, till the silver fades.

Rendition of notes builds a beautiful delusion,
Only to shatter on her lover’s tomb.
Beneath the moonlight, in Mystic Falls,
Her stoic self wraps a heart with tears.

To calm her fears
To find way back home
She returns with music, every night,
To her lover’s age old tomb.

a ROSE......

Born with thorns,
Crimsoned for love;
Taken ages ago,
To witness the fresh innocence
Of two passion filled souls.

I bloomed and sustained
Under a table lamp,
Listening to words and sighs,
Bringing sparkling smiles
To a girl lost in wonderland.

My red now fades,
But I still live and breathe-
Concealed in a book,
Listening to tears and tales
Of a painfully dying love.

I’m held dear now,
With memories and a broken heart.
Not all love is true
Like we are told always,
Hence, roses have thorns.

Blemished Me...

Flickering hope,
Crippled faith,
Tarnished love
Washed in tides of tears.

Marred belief,
Cracked memories,
Fragmentized life,
Burning in flames of misery.

Tormenting past,
Crushed perseverance,
Engulfing darkness,
Succumbing to an anaesthetic reality.

Deeply cut,
Still strangely smiling.
Too much to bear-
It wears me no more.

Blindfolded, I walk,
Relieved, through the maze of pain;
‘Cause I am not afraid,
Not anymore.

COMPLICATED!!!

Certain things in life happen, with and without our consent. Our mind and heart indulge is a competition to defeat and hurt each other. Doing and not doing things, cause pain equally intense. What do we do then?
At times we don’t want to fight or talk but the urge to indulge in the conversation, that would surely end in a fight, is very hard to resist and restraining ourselves is even more maddening. ‘No chat’ tends to restlessness and the end of the conversation, leaves you with regret and a feeling to undo everything.

 The person we trust the most, ends up shattering it to a million fragments that slowly dissolve in tears. A person who acts protective for you always ends up insulting you is a way that leaves you broken beyond repair. A person who once cried because you were in pain inflicts an unbearable agony to you and turns out to be the reason for your hidden tears. The friends you consider light of your life, with time, dim out and abandon you in dark. You often find yourself alienated in a place you always belonged to.

Looking at old pictures, which had made you laugh infinite times, offer you pain and nothing more. Moisten eyes constantly pray for the past to change and present to reframe. But at the same time, they thank God for teaching a required lesson in time even if it was in the harshest way.

“Sorrows are only eclipses of life. They teach us how to value happiness.”

But at the same time grief acts like the moon as it increases and fades at definite spans of time. Good times too do not last long. They are like dawn and twilight of this complicated life.

Strange!  We know people change, things change, situation change still want everything to suit us. Loomed, we always surrender to the strange tricks life plays on us. Disorientation of thoughts and actions is inevitable because life itself is so confused and disoriented. Couldn’t life be simpler and less complicated? Huh….

RANDOM VERSE (HINDI)

Pighal te badal,
Raaton ke andheron mein baras gaye.

Mohabat ke raste,
Bebasi ke dhund mein gum ho gaye.

Tarashe yaadon ke guldaste,
Sehmi sarnate mein murjha gaye.

Sapno ke diye,
Anchahi tufaan mein bujh gaye.

Khwahishon ke naav,
Jeevan ke bhavandar mein tut gaye.

Bas tukdon mein bati jindagi,
Reh gayi hai virane registaan mein…

MY BROKEN DREAMS...

A slumber hall on a classic shore-
Waves lament ,an eerie speech,
Where fears and hope coalesce into one,
Fancy, reality, like shingles on a beach.

That's where my broken dreams run to;
At the break of dawn,
Before the rise of sun;
To the dark cave of shadows down.

Where their day is spent in retrospection.
Diving into my opulence thoughts like fire,
To frame a fearful symmetry
Of dreaded possibilities and desire.

That's where my broken dreams run to;
At the break of dawn,
Before the rise of sun;
To the dark cave of shadows down.

Where my life is seen in a grain of sand,
My inner visions in sublime form.
Where wild flowers bloom every hour
To fruit in nightmares without any term.

That's where my broken dreams run to;
At the break of dawn,
Before the rise of sun;
To the dark cave of shadows down.

TRYST WITH SIN

Spiders of guilt scurried up my spine
And settled into my heart to feed upon me,

Reminding me of my trysts with Sin.

A life decorated with martinis and guns,

Regular treat of slit throats;

Surrounded by nymphets and sylphs,
Plunging hearts like delicacy.

Sybarite, I was, a lover of fun

Well-known bleak dire scallywag;

Red painted days and nights
Spent in nefarious court of Crime.

Pulverizing in austere gaze of Death,

Hallucinations of my abominable past-

Help the arachnids to delve insanely deep
Annihilating my repenting soul,
Guiding it to the doors of Hell.

DUTY AND LOVE...

A King above; mean beasts below,
Trapped in between am I-
A life painted with shades of valour and love,
Torn between duty and desire.

Lying in a pit where
Sorrows pelt down on a stoic face,
Bloody foam of weary wars
Come whizzing through the air.

Remembering a face, with smiling lips,
Bright trembling eyes filled with faith.
Departest I, with thy grief on my cheek,
Heart wilting with fear of the fate I seek.

Sadistic me, dauntless in war-
I'm no cavalier worth you at all.
With plume of charge of the state,
I am just a protector with no lover's fate.

O Princess dear waste no bead of tear
For an animal of war, provider of Death.
Set your heart on a worthy soul;
For our love lies in a forbidden zone.

Remember O Love,
For I'm forced by luck
To dance on a double edged sword
Of Duty - so cold.

THE CHARMER..

Delicate and tender, the love you hold
With smile en life wilted rose-
Charmer, you pluck all the cords
Of beauties all around.

Stuck with thoughts, of one naive girl,
Alas! You wilt yourself down.
Credulous you wait, two autumn fall
For acknowledgement of your love.

Confused still, her evasive self
Contrition-time and all.
Filled with guilt, the words she spills-
'O Charmer, move on for a better one.'

Drenched in remorse
Wanting him to discern
She gifts him-
A Better Future!
